Specialized History
Mike Sinyard is the president and founder of Specialized. Specialized bicycle components are the only privately owned bicycle manufacturer remaining in the industry.
His passion for cycling remains strong and alive with his dedication and focus to research and development of cycling components and accessories.
Sinyard named his company "Specialized" simply because it was how a rider referred to high end components at the time. Paving the way in the industry, research and development is keeping
Specialized on top with cutting edge technology. " Innovate or Die!!!"
- Did you know that all department bicycles are one size only? Its like buying a pair of shoes; would you buy a pair of shoes that are one size fits all?
- Did you know that all bikes bought at department stores have anywhere from a seven to a thirty day warranty? All of our bicycles that we sell have a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects and worksmanship for life!
- Did you know that there is no service after the sale at department stores? Once you give your money to the cashier your on your own. At Chicky & Wesley, you get lifetime adjustments free for as long as you own your bike and a free thirty day check up.
- Well now your thinking, "Well that all sounds good, but it's cheaper at the mass." Yes, your correct, the department stores are cheaper, because:
- One size fits all.
- No service
- Poor Quality
- Today we live in a "Throw-a-way society." Meaning items are designed to last long and wear out, and/or break. Today the consumer can walk into a store and buy a product, like a VCR, spend $39.99, use it for a year, and it starts eating tapes or won't work at all. So you take your broken machine to a repair shop and they tell you its $40 minimum to take a look at your machine and you think I only paid $39.99, I'll just buy another one. Point being, you get what you pay for. Bicycles are no different from anything else. They are designed to be a "throw-a-way item." And generally last anywhere from six months to one and a half years. Department bicycles can cost the consumer a lot more money and thats what they want. They want you to keep coming back to their store. After buying a couple of their bicycles, you could have bought a quality bicycle and have had a lifetime warranty.
- Department stores are not always cheaper and are definately not better.
- There are several types of bicycles to suit your exact needs. Finding the correct bicycle for your needs can only be done by a bicycle professional. No one can help you at a department store.
